Mountainbike Instructor Award Scheme (MIAS) Training and Assessment
These courses are designed for those who want to lead mountainbike groups from a club, outdoor centre, school or youth club. The MIAS awards are recognised by the Adventure Activity Licencing Service (AALS) and Association of British Cycle Coaches (ABCC).
These professional awards are validated by the Awarding Body Consortium and are available at Instructor Levels 1, 2 and 3. Further Coaching Levels (4 to 6) are available to experienced Level 3 instructors who wish to be involved in the training and assessment of Instructors.
All candidates must hold an appropriate and valid First Aid award. Please visit the MIAS web site for further detail

We work closely with MIAS to ensure that you enrole on a course at the appropriate level. MIAS recognises training given by other qualification providers and it is important that you discuss your experience and needs with us in detail to ensure you enrole on the most appropriate course.

Instructors leading groups at this level use upland routes over moorland or mountainous terrain normally below 600 metres and remain within 30 minutes walk of habitation or a road accessible to normal vehicles.

Level 3
This is the highest leadership level and prepares instructors to lead groups over more remote mountainous terrain and that generally found above 600 metres.
Candidates must hold WGL, ML (summer) or equivalent.
